Description
Prepare Payroll for the district, including related reports and deposits. Work under close supervision to ensure accurate and timely preparation of payroll records by following prescribed procedures and regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

* Payroll/Accounting*

1. Prepare monthly and special payrolls. Prepares payroll for substitute teachers. Input and audit wages, salaries, overtime pay, and net pay. Upload direct deposit file as needed.
2.Receive and audit non-exempt employee time sheets or electronic time records.
3.Receive and audit substitute teacher records and game duty reports.
4.Distribute payroll checks to all campuses and departments.
5.Prepare and submit payroll report forms and payments including those required by the Internal Revenue Service, Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Retirement System, 457, Medicare, and Worker's Compensation.
6. Prepare and post salary changes.
7. Maintain physical and computerized payroll records including employee payroll history.
8. Balance payroll earnings and deductions. Process direct deposits and other banking interactions.
9. Process IRS forms including W-4s, W-2s, ACA, EFTPS, and 941 records.
10.TRS Reporting, ALL Regular Payroll Reporting and TRS Submissions as needed.

Personnel

1 .Audits and maintains all payroll records.
2. Assists administrators in data input and reports pertaining to Compensatory Education payroll, Title I payroll and payrolls for other federal/state programs.
3. Directs retirement inquiries to the appropriate person or agency.
4. Communicates with district employees to verify accuracy of information reported; resolve payroll problems and inquiries.
5. Responds to requests from financial institutions regarding verification of employment.
6. Maintains confidentiality of information.
7. Assists in annual budget preparation with regard to payroll.

Other:

1. Receive incoming calls, answer questions, and direct calls to the proper party.
2. Complies with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policy.
3. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Central Office Administration.

Requirements
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma

*Special Knowledge*

Knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Proficient use of 10-key calculator
Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills
Proficient use of a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets in databases such as Google Programs, Excel, and Word
Ability to meet established deadlines
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
2-3 years payroll accounting experience preferred
