Canton ISD Delayed Teacher Certification 5-Year Proposed Plan

House Bill 2 Texas Education Code (TEC 21.0032) will restrict school districts from using District of Innovations waivers to hire uncertified teachers for core subjects beginning the 2026-27 school year to be completely phased by 2029-2030.

Canton ISD has established a structured and data-driven plan to reduce the number of uncertified teachers hired in the district. This plan will be fully implemented by the 2029-2030 school year as required.
