Superintendent's Message
“Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.” — Gustav Mahler
STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to our Canton ISD Student of the Week, Eliana “Ellie” Everitt, a first-grade student in Mrs. Cheatham’s class at Canton Elementary School!
Ellie is the daughter of Joshua and Olivia Everitt and has been part of Canton ISD since kindergarten. Her favorite subject is math, and outside of school, she enjoys gymnastics and dance. Ellie also loves tackling big words and figuring out what they mean.
When she grows up, Ellie says she would like to become a teacher right here at Canton Elementary School.
According to Mrs. Wiley, “Ellie is a wonderful example of Eagle Excellence. She is kind, caring, and always looking for opportunities to help others. She notices when someone needs support and willingly steps in without being asked. Her thoughtfulness and servant’s heart help make CES a welcoming and inclusive place.”
DISTRICT UPDATES
CONSTRUCTION
Several projects continue moving forward across Canton ISD. Below are links to the most recent drone footage of the projects:
Work has begun on resurfacing our tennis courts, and we are planning air-conditioning unit replacements at Canton Elementary along with HVAC repairs at Canton Junior High. We also anticipate the delivery of an additional district bus later this fall.
RING OF HONOR
We are also accepting nominations for the Canton ISD Athletic Hall of Honor through October 30. Our inaugural class will be recognized in conjunction with the opening of the new Henry Lewis Gymnasium.
BAND
Congratulations to our Mighty Canton Band on earning straight 1s at the Mesquite Marching Contest on Saturday.
FFA
Over the weekend, our FFA Ag Mechanics team had a tremendous showing at the Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo Ag Mechanics Show in Waco. Colby Reeves and Levi Jackson were named Trailer Division Champions and won their class with their projects. It was a great start to the 2026–2027 year for our Ag Mechanics program.
EAGLETTE VOLLEYBALL
Our Eaglettes scored a big win over Brownsboro on Tuesday night to move to 3–1 in district play. On Tuesday, we will travel to Lindale.

On Thursday night, our 7A and 8B teams earned wins, while 8A tied Wills Point. Our JV fell to Wills Point, the freshman team was defeated by Carthage, and 7B lost to Brownsboro. On Friday night, our Eagles earned a dominant win over the Tigers to move to 5–0 on the season as they head into district play.
CROSS COUNTRY
The Running Eagles hosted their own invitational on Wednesday and Thursday, September 23–24, welcoming more than 1,100 runners from over 30 schools.
